Built in 1728, AILSA is a characterful guest house that offers first-class bed and breakfast services. Situated in Portsoy, Banffshire, we offer a warm and friendly welcome to couples, families, and individuals. After you have had a refreshing night’s sleep, you can start your day with a delicious homemade breakfast. To cater for the varied needs of our visitors, we accommodate any special requests and dietary requirements, providing that we receive suitable notice in advance.
Comfortable, Well-Equipped Rooms
At AILSA, we have two en-suite rooms and a family room, while a separate bathroom is equipped with a shower and whirlpool bath. One of the rooms is situated on the ground floor, making it suitable for elderly or disabled visitors who would prefer not to tackle the stairs. All of the rooms are filled with convenient amenities, including televisions with Freeview™ and DVD players, hair driers, mini-fridges, hospitality trays, clock radios, free Wi-Fi™, and tea- and coffee-making facilities. The majority of rooms have a pleasant view into The Square, while one room has a view of the sea. The double rooms are charged at £60 per night, based on 2 sharing, which includes a hot or cold breakfast.
The Local Area
AILSA is situated in a central area near a number of shops and the film set of the Whisky Galore! remake. Based in a conservation area, we are just a two-minute walk from the harbour. A popular tourist attraction and point of interest, the 17th century harbour is famous beyond Banffshire, and is home to a renowned marble shop. Every June, the harbour plays host to the boat festival, and many visitors choose to stay at AILSA before making their way to the festival.
We have a good knowledge of the local area, and will be able to recommend places to visit, including the whisky trails and various stunning walking routes. We will also happily recommend one of the nearby restaurants or pubs, which serve delicious food and local ales.
